InTime Applications proudly presents: Aero Xtreme 7 VS
one of the first visual styles for Windows 7!
If you love transparency, this one's for you!
Description: This VS changes the taskbar transparency in Windows 7 to match the normal and maximized frames transparency levels like it was in build 7000. It works with all Windows 7 colors, in all screen positions (bottom, top, right, left) and for large and small icons.
The taskbar images have been carefully edited so that all parts of the taskbar match flawlessly while maintaining perfect Aero lines.
Changelog for build 7077: Friday, April 17, 2009: - Adjusted transparency for all taskbar images (12) from the original level of 255 all the way down to 32.
Updated Monday, April 20, 2009: Aero Xtreme 7 now starts up with Aero Enabled Updated preview to better show new taskbar transparency Added Take Control Utility Added free UXTheme Patch for build 7077
(A huge thanks to alkhan who linked me to the Take Control and UXTheme Patch utilities.)
UXTheme Patch You must patch your Windows 7 UXTheme files to use Aero Xtreme 7.
I'm personally using AveStyler (not free - $4 US) which patches the UXTheme files in memory so replacing the actual files is not required. AveStyler also has a utility that allows you to select the desired VS. Aero Xtreme 7 now includes a free UXTheme Patching utility for 7077.
If you have a build prior to 7077, please click on the following link to get the appropriate UXTheme Patch:
If, for example, you're using build 7000, Aero Xtreme 7 VS should work and will give you the 7077 UI. If anybody wants to test this, please let us know if it works. There is really no risk... Simply switch back to an Aero theme if it doesn't work out.
More information on patching your UXTheme files can be found in the Readme.txt file included in the download.
Theme Pack: An Xtreme Animal Theme Pack is also included in the download (photos by Tiffany and Dave).
How to use Aero Xtreme 7 with the Theme Pack: Patch your UXTheme, copy the Visual Style and theme to "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes" and apply the theme by clicking on the 'Xtreme Animals.themepack' file. The theme won't work if Aero Xtreme is not the active VS. And yes you can use the VS without the theme.
Testing: To test Aero Xtreme 7, move your taskbar to the top and maximize a window to compare the transparency and Aero lines.
License: Aero Xtreme 7 VS is based on the original Aero style by Microsoft and is distributed free for personal use only.
Favorites: If ever the taskbar is not updated by the time Windows 7 is officially released, this might be a good visual style to keep in mind especially if you like everything else about 7. So don't forget to add this deviation to your favorites
Comments are welcomed and much appreciated!
Thanks for trying Aero Xtreme 7 VS,
InTime
P.S.: Sorry for posting this in the Vista VS section but there is no VS section yet for Windows 7 yet. Please also note that this VS only works with Windows 7. This is a visual style and not a WindowBlinds skin.
Aero Xtreme 7 VS Milestone After just over 5 days on deviantART, at 10:30 AM ET on April 23, 2009, Aero Xtreme 7 VS passed the 1000 download mark, averaging almost 200 downloads daily!
I can't believe that some people still find that this theme is useful. I am glad that you think so... Really nice to hear from you Lannie And thanks for the
Ya never know, Ian. I still have people downloading that 3 year old pre-release Windows 7 tweak for xp. Truth be told I'm using your WindowBlinds Aero Xtreme and my Windows 7 Complete (with some tweaks) on our bedroom PC. I should say my wife's PC. I've offered to upgrade it to Win 7 Service Pack 1, but she seems more comfortable with the work you and I did. Truthfully, I think that even after 2 years with 7, I still prefer XP myself. It was so much more friendly. Windows 8 Metro can kiss my *ss. Not even interested.
My wife also uses Aero Xtreme on her XP Netbook and seems to like it. The Internet is actually faster on the Netbook than on our HP Quad 4 computer with Windows 7.
Windows 8 is pretty useless with that Metro style. The average user does not need to go through panels of useless applications to finally get to the desktop. If I want an iPad style interface, I'll buy an iPad. I wish Microsoft would improve Windows and nothing more. Because of CoreLock I will most likely need to update to Windows 8. CoreLock has to work with the newest Windows OS which it does so far. A few libraries in the US are interested in CoreLock so I am really happy about that. One of them is testing it right now and they are really loving it! I am really hoping that it will be a huge success!
