Xtreme 7 Twilight Taskbar by IanITAInc Xtreme 7 Twilight Taskbar by IanITAInc
:new: Xtreme 7 Twilight Taskbar
Now available for Aero Xtreme 7 XP [link]

I haven't submitted anything for a while now so I decided to share a twilight taskbar for Aero Xtreme 7 XP that I recently made. A big thanks to ~ptukey [link] who has been bugging me about making this twilight taskbar for several months now. Turns out that I am also enjoy it - especially in front of blue or light wallpapers. It simply makes any text in the taskbar much easier to read and also looks awesome! I hope that all of you Aero Xtreme 7 XP users will enjoy it as well :)

Base WindowBlinds Skin Required:

Aero Xtreme 7 XP [link]

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

Instructions
1- Make sure you have Aero Xtreme 7 XP already installed [link]
2- Download the 'Taskbar_Colors.zip' file included in this deviation.
3- Unzip and navigate to '...\Taskbar Colors\Twilight\Fake Show Desktop Button'
4- Run the installer.
5- Reply the skin via WB.
6- If you're a 'Show Desktop' [link] user, right click the 'Show Desktop' button and select 'Settings'.
7- Turn the transparency slider to the maximum (this will make the Show Desktop button almost transparent and allow the twilight taskbar to be entirely visible).

You can return to the black glass taskbar by running the included 'Black Glass Taskbar' installer.

IMPORTANT: Please note that this is only available for the regular 32 pixel taskbar. Slim and 48 pixel taskbars are not supported for now. They will be supported once Aero Xtreme 7 RC2 is released (not sure when though).

Enjoy!

Remember to :+fav: the original Aero Xtreme 7 XP deviation [link] if you have not done so already. It would be greatly appreciated!

It has the TB at the top. Very nice. I like to see a streamlined desktop like this one. The blue colour is nice, too. Very well done. I have neither a MAC nor am I running 7, I still run XP Pro SP2 with IE7. But one fine day I will make the switch, and themes like this will likely be in my collection when I do go to 7 and later, to 8.

Just want to make sure that you've noticed that this is for XP. However, it does require WB so I am not sure if you're a WB user. If you are, then you should definitely give this a try... This is the best of the best - at least for XP!

Yep, I am familiar with Window Blinds. For a long time, I experimented with all kinds of skinning stuff from Stardock and others. It was cool. But it also used a LOT of unneccessary CPU cycles. In the end, I duped all that and went with a98 classic style. I dound that by unloading most of the eye candy, I could save tons of RAM and make the PC go a bunch faster. Since the proggies I run require lots of CPU, I need all the RAM I can get. One day I will build a box that could care less about how big the shell is in memory. Good kob on the skin. Very classy, aye.

Thanks for your great comment! Just to let you know, the newest versions of WB (6 and up) don't take up any RAM. It acts more like a VS. WB can actually increase the speed of your system (especially graphics). But if you prefer to not re-venture in this field, then I totally understand your point of view.

You are most welcome. I might look into it. Skinning the OS is rather cool, especially on custom corporate boxes where the owners want branding, etc. I also am curious about the performance of the newer versions of Stardock products. I used to skin everything, even the NTLOADER screen. It was a lot of fun. BUt I never actually constructed any skin elements, since there were so many out there already.

I know about your concerns. If you over do it, it can definitely slow your system down. WB, Show Desktop and TClock are about the only utilities I currently have running and it's running really smoothly! I do database programming and I need all the RAM for that. Let me know if you decide to give it go...

I've switched over to 7, and it's still pretty hard to tell the difference when looking at your work. Good job, Ian! :D

Thanks so much! I have Windows 7 as well but my notebook is still running XP! Aero Xtreme 7 XP makes not having Windows 7 on my notebook more than acceptable. Since I did this for myself originally, I am loving the skin just as much as any other Aero Xtreme user :)
