Although I haven't worked on CoreLock lately, I did take a few moments to try it out with Windows 8. I am happy to say that CoreLock is 100% compatible with Windows 8!
I've added the option to disable the Metro UI which is replaced with the Windows 7 style Start Menu. Of course, the Start Menu can still be disabled/hidden.
I must say that the new Windows 8 visual style looks awesome! They finally got rid of the aero stripes! The new close/maximize/minimize buttons look great and so do the square window borders.
I will start to work again on CoreLock in a few weeks. For now, I am really happy about the Windows 8 compatibility!
Take care,
Ian
P.S.: Baby is doing great and now sleeps through the night which is such a relief!

And it's a...
Girl! :)
Name: Janica
Weight: 7 lbs 3 ounces
Date: August 7, 2011
Time: 12:43 PM
Delivery time: an amazing 43 minutes!!!
Cuteness factor: 10+ Simply beautiful! A perfect baby!
Once we got to the delivery room, it took about 5 minutes and after only 2 pushes the baby was out! What a great moment! My wife was awesome and freaked out when she saw it was a girl.
Are we exhausted? You bet! But the baby and mother are doing well and we are glad to be home!
Question: How many hours have I slept in the last 48 hours?
Answer: about 6 hours (my wife, about 4 hours!)
A new born can be extremely tiring especially when you have 3 more that need
Hibernate!
For the first time in several years, my computer has gone into hibernation. This means that I haven't touched my notebook in 24 hours! That never happens! :D
But it's for a good reason, we are preparing the house for the new baby which is coming in about a week.
Hoping that everything will go well,
Ian
P.S.: Haven't worked on CoreLock lately but I'm fairly close to a first Alpha. It's working extremely well. Registration, licensing and a lot more have been implemented.
CoreLock gets optimized to the Core!!!
CoreLock goes Lite...
As some of you might have read, CoreLock Basic might be called CoreLock Lite. Well, that's not the only thing that will be lite.
Today, I've been working on a way to reduce system resources used by CoreLock and here are the results:
Before optimization:
CPU: 6% (3% on idle)
RAM: 18,034 KB
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
After optimization:
CPU: 1% (0% to 1% on idle)
RAM: 1,608 KB
RESULTS: That's an 84% reduction in CPU usage and a 92% reduction in RAM usage.
RAM is optimized on the fly whenever the system is idle for more than 2 seconds. RAM reduction can also be applied to any application linked
CoreLock naming conventions
There might be a free version of CoreLock so here's another idea:
CoreLock
CoreLock Pro
CoreLock Pro Advanced
or
CoreLock Free
CoreLock Pro
CoreLock Pro Advanced
Any thoughts?
Ian
--------------------------------------------
I'm thinking of using CoreLock Express for the standard version of CoreLock since the security levels are pre-defined and you don't need to go through hundreds of settings. It's quick and easy to setup - hence the word 'Express'. The nice thing about 'Express' is that it does not diminish CoreLock in any way unlike the words 'basic' or 'standard'.
For the advanced version, CoreLock Select might be a possible
